New App Helps Breast Cancer Survivors Find Tattoos to Hide Mastectomy Scars - ABC, USA
A platform designed to facilitate tattoos to help breast cancer survivors
change the meaning of their scars.
In 2013/14, we created a platform called Personal Ink (P.ink) a program dedicated to empowering women to reclaim their bodies after mastectomies. Through education and connection with experienced tattoo artists who can help, we are committed to ensuring that breast cancer never has to leave the last mark.
An app to help with the process that achieved more than 200 million in earned reach.
Breast cancer survivors are often told they have two post-mastectomy options: reconstruction or not. But the under-the-radar practice of scar-coverage tattoos can be a transformative form of healing. Since the decision to get inked is very personal, we created the Inkspiration app to help survivors "try on" mastectomy tattoos in the privacy of their own homes. Users can select a body type or upload a photo to get a better idea of what designs might look like on them. Inkspiration houses a growing library of tattoo inspiration and helps users identify real-world tattoo artists with mastectomy experience.
